12 July 2007: Have I Told You About My New Web Site?

Maybe I made a little bit of pest of myself tonight telling everyone the address of my new web site. Do you know it? It’s http://HillaryMelville.com.

A lovely night. I like it when new people come, because they often remark on what a different place it is and what a nice crowd is there. And it’s true. No spinning disco balls, no raffles. Just music and conversation. And JL came in and stayed a while.

I wanted to play Solo le Pido a Dios, but Leon Gieco’s original version is a little slow and folky, so I opted for Pandora’s version which is more danceable.

Aenea said playing Pandora was like playing the Captain and Tenille and sugested that Bilingual would be a good antidote. (Yes, you can get that on iTunes.)

I agree with Deborah, this is a really clean site! I am impressed, as I knew I would be and lookforward to returning to the salon again and again. Cheers!

OK, here’s how dumb I am.

To make sure you get your cut of my purchases, do I have to click on each track from your site, and then hit add to Cart in iTunes?

I normally add things to my cart during the month, and then make one big purchase — will it remember that you were the referrer?

Sorry for talking about the ugly business here, but where else?

No, you don’t have to add each song to your cart from here. Just the first one.

The way it works is like this: when you go to iTunes from here, you get a session “ticket” that’s good for 24 hours. Anything you buy in those 24 hours gets credited to me — unless you visit someone else’s affiliate site.

And no, you’re not dumb. I had to read the terms 4 or 5 times to figure it out, and I’m still not sure I got it right.

OK, you ask for new music suggestions? Here you go. One of my providers of new music is a sporadic blog named aurgasm.us, which posted a band called Belleruche a few weeks ago (http://aurgasm.us/2007/06/belleruche). I listened to the tracks today and fell in love, and I think they’re totally up your alley.
